So yeah.... car was broken into ugh

Post by Diablo0 »

Yeah... it was. I got to the garage I park in (which btw is a pretty nice garage). I pulled into my usual spot where it's close to the stairs and no one can park along side of me b/c of a nice pillar by my car and on the other side is a wall. I walk up the stairs to head to work and my remote starts beeping, I turn around, go back down to check and no one was around so I figured that the HUGE A/C unit that is right next to my car was making enough vibrations and noise that it set it triggered the sensor. After that I just headed to work.

Quitting time comes, I walk down, unlock my car, get ready to get inside and notice my passenger window glass all over my front seat so I get out and do a walk around making sure not to touch anything just incase. No damage to the paint on the door that I can see, just the glass all over the front seat and my radar detector gone along with some EMPTY CD cases that were in my center console, other than that I dont' keep anything in there of value. I called the police, they came out, filled out a report, the garage security guy also filled out a report. Then the police officer also dusted for prints on the door handle and rest of the door but there weren't any so the their just slammed the glass in, reached in and went though everything and took my R.D. He also told the garage security guy to ask that he have them check the security cameras and see if they caught anything since I was pretty close to one. The garage security person also said that from the incidents he has seen in the other parking garages he patrols that all the people are after is the radar detector and thats it. He said that one even had a nice crisp $50 bill sitting in the cup holder and they didn't even take that, only the radar detector.

So FYI, if you park downtown, remove your radar completely out of sight. He even said that there have been soem cases where people will hide them and they'll still be able to see the suction cup circles on the glass and will still break in still b/c they know you're hiding them.

It sucks but shit happens, I'm just glad they didn't steal anything else or do any other damage to my car. Needless to say, I won't be driving my car to work much anymore.

Damn dude that sucks. I never leave ANYTHING in my car at all, except for some burnt copies of cds and I keep those hidden.

The lot I park in for work has pavement so fucked up that I'll never take my Neon there after the bodywork is done.

Yeah it does blow, I want something now that if you touch my car it'll saw your dick off...

Looks like I know what I'll be buying soon.... a new window, new tinting for the window... and a new radar detector.

Suck... but... ah well. I even bought my $80/month parking pass yesterday which now I'm going to try and get refunded b/c I sure as hell am not parking there anymore unless I have to but it won't be with my car.

 yup... this month is 80, next is 70. The place I'm now working has a parking garage thats much cheaper than every place around but they lease part of it out to attorneys that rent out one of the floors of the buildign. So now with that they dont' have enough places for their own employees and the list of spaces is done by senority so I'm at the bottom of the list and it could be years before I get a spot in the garage. I think I might just ride the metro lol I don't have any room for a beater with us having 4 cars now
